The Libertarian Party has removed opposition to involuntary commitment from its platform. Many party members support psychiatric power and have opposed that provision.

I've voted for a few LP candidates, but have never found much to recommend the party. Especially at the state levels, the LP is now dominated by opportunists who either reject principled libertarianism outright, or want to downplay unpopular positions so that LP candidates can gain "traction" in elections. Few candidates are more than passingly familiar with Szasz, Rothbard, Mises, and other libertarian notables. My sense is that the LP now attracts self-promoting hustlers who see the party as an easy way to further their ambitions.
